Electrical Service Technician – Infrastructure Systems

Job description

You will mainly work on electrical, measurement and control systems within dry and wet infrastructure. These systems are essential for keeping tunnels, bridges, locks, pumping stations and traffic-related installations safe and operational. Your work includes preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, commissioning and technical improvements.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, analysing and resolving faults in electrical and mechatronic infrastructure systems;
  • Working on installations such as power supply systems, lighting, communication systems, pump installations, signalling systems, control cabinets, PLC-based control systems and emergency operation systems;
  • Performing corrective and preventive maintenance, repairs and functional checks;
  • Installing peripheral equipment and commissioning technical installations;
  • Preparing measurement reports and accurately recording technical data;
  • Providing user instructions and advising on technical improvements;
  • Taking responsibility for first-line faults, with support from second-line specialists or system suppliers when needed;
  • Working during maintenance closures in the evening, at night or during weekends when required;
  • Participating in standby/on-call services, since critical infrastructure must remain available 24/7.

What you bring:

  • Red Seal Trade Certificate as an Electrician, Millwright with strong electrical experience, or an equivalent qualification;
  • Relevant experience in electrical installation, service, maintenance or troubleshooting;
  • Hands-on knowledge of electrical systems, control cabinets, motors, sensors, distribution systems and measurement/control technology;
  • Experience with PLCs, communication systems, IP networks or industrial automation is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of Dutch standards such as NEN 3140 and NEN 1010 is an advantage, or willingness to learn these standards;
  • A safety-first mindset and willingness to obtain Dutch safety certificates such as VCA;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently;
  • Willingness to work in standby/on-call services and during planned maintenance closures;
  • Proficiency in English and Afrikaans, with a readiness to learn Dutch;
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to relocate to the Netherlands.
