Service Technician Mechanical

Do you thrive on solving mechanical breakdowns quickly and intelligently? In this role, you ensure that critical production installations remain reliable and efficient. You work closely with industrial clients, taking ownership of maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Description

As a Service Technician Mechanical, you are the technical point of contact for industrial clients in your region. You work independently on-site while remaining part of a strong and supportive technical team.

Your responsibilities include:

• Performing preventive, corrective and proactive maintenance on machinery and installations;
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical breakdowns;
• Replacing and overhauling components such as pumps, drives and rotating equipment;
• Advising clients on technical improvements and optimisation;
• Ensuring compliance with safety regulations;
• Accurately reporting on completed work, hours and materials used.

  
  

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you combine strong fault-finding skills with a structured and independent work approach. You communicate confidently with clients and colleagues and remain focused until the job is completed to a high standard.

• Qualified Red Seal Artisan (e.g. Fitter, Millwright or similar mechanical trade)
• Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial environment
• Knowledge of maintenance management systems
• Basic computer literacy (e.g. reporting and documentation)
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within a team
• Preference will be given to Dutch-speaking candidates. Candidates who are fluent in English and Afrikaans and are willing to learn Dutch may also be considered

Our client is a engineering and technical consultancy firm specializing in the design, construction, maintenance, and optimization of industrial production processes. They operate across sectors such as manufacturing, process, food, and pharmaceuticals, offering integrated services from engineering and project management to predictive maintenance and shutdown optimization. With around 250–500 employees, they support clients nationwide through multiple offices, including this branch in Veendam.
