Mechanical Maintenance Technician

For our client, a well-established name in the European salt production industry with more than 150 years of history, we are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join the technical department at their production site in Hengelo, the Netherlands.

Description

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you work day shifts alongside your colleagues from the technical department, keeping a varied range of production equipment running, including dryers, sieves, briquette presses, packaging machines and conveyor belts. Your work is a mix of planned maintenance and hands-on problem-solving: you carry out repair and maintenance tasks, trace the cause and scope of faults, and decide whether a direct fix is possible or whether further repair work is needed, stepping in with emergency repairs whenever production is at risk.

Alongside your own initiative, you also carry out the assignments prepared by the work planners, making sure that every job is completed on time and to specification. Throughout your work, you keep health, safety, quality and environmental regulations front of mind, using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task at hand.

Requirements

We are looking for a technically skilled, solution-oriented professional who feels at home in a production environment, enjoys solving problems, and takes ownership of their work, both independently and as part of a team.

• A Red Seal qualification as a Fitter or Millwright (or equivalent);
• A few years of relevant experience in a maintenance role;
• Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, with an affinity for hydraulics and pneumatics;
• Fluency in both English and Afrikaans;
• A practical, safety-conscious mindset and good communication skills.

• Base salary between €4.357 – €5.000 gross per month.

The salt is used in a wide range of applications: from food processing to pharmaceuticals, from water softening to agriculture, from household salt to a broad range of other industrial applications. The company has two locations in the Netherlands; the site where this role is based employs over 100 people.
