Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Technician

As an Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in keeping a large-scale process installation running safely and reliably. You will prevent and resolve equipment failures, carry out repairs on sensors, actuators, control systems, and power distribution equipment, and help shape a proactive maintenance strategy built on prevention rather than reaction. It is technical work with real ownership: you will be trusted to make independent decisions on repairs within clear operational guidelines, and to be accountable for the systems assigned to you. This is a role for someone who takes pride in a job well done and enjoys the variety that comes with working across electrical, instrumentation, and control disciplines in a process environment.

Description

Your days will centre on the health of the installation's electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including DCS and PLC platforms and the electric motors that keep production moving. Rather than simply reacting to breakdowns, you will build preventive and predictive maintenance plans that reduce the chance of failures happening in the first place, and you will document your work carefully so that colleagues on other shifts always know where things stand.

Beyond the day-to-day technical work, you will take part in an on-call rotation, contribute ideas to continuous improvement initiatives, and take ownership of the installations assigned to you. You enjoy both figuring out what is wrong and deciding how best to fix it, and you are comfortable making that call yourself when the situation calls for it.

Requirements

We are looking for a motivated technician who values safety and takes ownership of their work, and who is just as comfortable collaborating with a team as working things out independently. You communicate clearly, think through problems methodically, and stay open to picking up new skills through further training.

More specifically, you bring:

• A Red Seal Electrician or Instrumentation Technician qualification, or equivalent
• Experience working in the process industry
• VCA certification, or a willingness to obtain one
• Working knowledge of electrical safety standards such as NEN 3140
• The ability to work independently as well as within a team
• Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication
• Openness to specialised, ongoing training
