Lead Mechanical Installations Technician
As a Lead Mechanical Installations Technician, you will take charge of the installation, replacement, and optimization of mechanical systems at a large transportation hub. This includes sustainable upgrades to existing installations such as heating systems, cooling units, and sanitation.
You will:
- Lead small mechanical installation projects on-site, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
- Collaborate with technicians, electricians, and service teams to ensure seamless installation and operational readiness
- Guide and mentor junior technicians and third-party contractors
- Monitor the progress of work and report technical improvements and safety observations
- Work at various high-profile and technically challenging locations — from aircraft hangars to technical facilities
Each project is unique, varying in scope and duration, offering you a dynamic and technically diverse work environment.
Who You Are
You’re a hands-on technician who takes initiative, communicates clearly, and enjoys mentoring others. You understand the technical and logistical aspects of installation work and bring a solution-oriented mindset.
You also offer:
- A completed Red Seal qualification (Millwright, Fitter, or equivalent in mechanical systems)
- Several years of experience in mechanical installation work in commercial or industrial settings
- Familiarity with hydraulic, HVAC, and sanitary installations
- Leadership skills and the ability to train and support apprentices or subcontractors
- A valid VCA certificate (or willingness to obtain it)
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English – and motivated to learn Dutch

Our client is a major technical services provider in the Netherlands, delivering complex, large-scale maintenance and service projects in critical infrastructure locations. At Schiphol Airport, their dedicated team ensures building systems remain operational and efficient, directly contributing to public safety and comfort. You’ll be joining a diverse and tight-knit team of over 35 technicians, engineers, and service planners working together with pride and purpose.
