Design Engineer – High Voltage Infrastructure
As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the technical backbone of tomorrow’s energy grid. You’ll be involved from the earliest study phases through to final engineering design, ensuring projects are feasible, sustainable, and buildable. From new substations to major upgrades, your designs support the energy transition — and keep the Netherlands powered.
This is a dynamic role with room to grow. You’ll operate within multidisciplinary teams, advise stakeholders, and create technical designs that meet the highest standards for quality and safety. You will also contribute to innovation and help develop design policies that guide future infrastructure.

- Base salary between €4.200 – €6.300 gross per month (based on experience)

Your Activities Include
- Conducting feasibility studies and translating client needs into base and detailed engineering designs
- Advising on and preparing technical documentation for design decisions
- Creating design packages in line with national regulations, safety codes, and technical standards
- Supporting project teams and stakeholders throughout the design process
- Contributing to the development of engineering guidelines and innovations
- Coordinating across disciplines such as civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering
Who You Are
You are passionate about technical design and committed to building reliable energy solutions. You bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. You are proactive, structured, and not afraid to take ownership.
You bring:
- A completed Red Seal Trade Certificate, National Diploma, or BTech in Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 6 or higher)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure or utility engineering
- Experience working in high-voltage or energy distribution environments
- Familiarity with European or Dutch engineering standards (or willingness to learn)
- Strong communication and coordination skills in multidisciplinary teams
- Valid driver’s license (Code B)
- Certification in Construction Health & Safety (CHS) or SACPCMP registration (or willingness to obtain)
